Chinese New Year is celebrated by Chinese communities worldwide. It is also referred to as the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival and begins on the first day of the first month in the Chinese calendar and ends on the fifteenth day (Lantern Festival). The ways in which the Chinese celebrate this longest and most important festivity in the Chinese Lunar calendar is wide and varied: dancing, firework displays and family gatherings.
